The Tomb of King Gyeongsun is the only royal tomb of Silla in Gyeonggi-do Province, outside the Gyeongju
area. King Gyeongsun, the 56th and the last king of Silla, handed over the kingdom to King Taejo of Goryeo
in peace during the division into the Later Three Kingdoms and spent the rest of his life at the Yuhwa
Palace in Kaesong after he received Gyeongju as his feudal land. However, he was unable to return to his
home of Gyeongju even after his death and was buried in the hillside of Seonggeosan Mountain overlooking the
Imjingang River.
Each year, the rites are carried out in the spring and autumn on the first Sunday in May and October
3rd.
