The train that carried people and supplies between Seoul and Wonsan before the Korean War now makes a U-turn at Sintanri Station. The railroad running from Sintanri Station through former Cheorwon Station to Pyeonggang beyond the MDL now no longer exists.
In North Korea, the Gyeongwon Line connecting Pyeonggang, Sepo, Gosan, Tongjiwon, Wonsan, and Gowon has long been called the Gangwon Line. A signpost reading “Let the Iron Horse Run Again” standing around Sintanri Station, which indicates the south disconnection point of Gyeongwon Line, makes us realize the tragedy of national division.
