    January Presidential Decree No. 12557 incorporated Bugok-ri, Gwanin-myeon, Pocheon-gun into Yeoncheon-eup

Jangju (currently Yeoncheon) became part of Dongju-gun (currently Cheorwon).

    16th year of King Gyeongdeok of Silla The county was named Gongseong-hyeon.

    15th year of King Munmu of Silla After Silla defeated the troops of Tang Dynasty in Maechoseong Fortress (or Maesoseong Fortress; currently Daejeon-ri Mountain Fortress) along the Hantangang River, Yeoncheon was completely incorporated into the territory of Silla. With their victory at the Battle of Maechoseong Fortress, Silla occupied the southern part of the Taedonggang River and established the first unified dynasty on the Korean Peninsula.

    14th year of King Jinheung of Silla As Silla, which occupied the area around the Hangang River, expanded its territory to the north, the southern part of the Imjingang River was incorporated into Silla. The Imjingang River became a border between Goguryeo in the north and Silla in the south until the fall of Goguryeo in 668.

    King Gwanggaeto the Great of Goguryeo As Goguryeo fully began its southward advance under the reigns of King Gwanggaeto the Great and King Jangsu, the area was absorbed into Goguryeo. Goguryeo established Gongmok Dalhyeon, an administrative district, in the Yeoncheon area and effectively controlled it.

    King Onjo of Baekje When King Onjo of Baekje founded Baekje in the area near the Hangang River, he expanded his influence towards the north, absorbing the area into Baekje.

    Paleolithic Age Homo erectus, the first humans on the Korean Peninsula, began to reside along the Hantangang River in Yeoncheon. The axes they left behind were first discovered in 1978 in Jeongok-ri, Yeoncheon, for the first time in East Asia. They became crucial evidence for overturning the Mobius theory.
